- Saṃyukta Āgama in fifty fascicles · translated by Guṇabhadra, Tripiṭaka master from India, in the Song · T02n0099. Fascicle 1 runs from the fascicle title at
0001a03to the closing title at0007b16: thirty-two discourses, four summary verses, fifty-six Taishō collation entries, and one hundred and thirty-eight notes. Fascicle 2 runs from the fascicle title at0007b19to the closing title at0015b04: twenty-six discourses, ten thousand four hundred and fifty-two Han characters, four summary verses, seventy Taishō collation entries, and one hundred and seventy-four notes. Fascicle 3 runs from the fascicle title at0015b07to the closing title at0022b14: twenty-nine discourses, nine thousand four hundred and seventeen Han characters, four summary verses, sixty-three Taishō collation entries, and one hundred and sixty-two notes.

II. Collation Witness
- Bieyi Za Ahan Jing (Alternate Translation of the Saṃyukta Āgama) in sixteen fascicles · translator unknown · T02n0100. A witness for collation only; where the discourses of Fascicles 1 to 3, Fascicle 5, Fascicle 7 and Fascicle 10 have no parallel in it, that is recorded as such.
III. Old Mirror Carried Forward
- Yogācārabhūmi, Compendium of Topics, Topics of the Sūtras · translated by Xuanzang under the Tang · T30n1579 (fascicles 85 to 98, from
0772b12). It marks the discourses it gathers and sets a mātṛkā over their meaning; the passages facing Fascicles 1 to 3, Fascicle 5, Fascicle 7 and Fascicle 10 lie in fascicles 85 to 88. The sūtra has no running old commentary, and that is recorded honestly.
IV. Old Masters’ Remarks and Later Witnesses
- No sentence-by-sentence remarks of the old masters on this fascicle were found within the Chinese canon as searched. The twenty-seven Saṃyutta coordinates given in the Taishō notes are recorded in the tenth topic of the Apparatus; no concordance is built.
V. How Citations Are Given
Verbatim quotation stands in double corner brackets with its locus: the short form 〔T02 0001a06〕 for the base text, the full form 〔T30n1579 0772c15〕 for the Compendium of Topics. The locus is the line in which the first character of the quotation stands.
VI. Scope of Sources
Citation is limited to the sūtra, the Compendium of Topics, and the old masters. No modern scholars, no modern English translations, and no forms from Pali scholarship are cited; no Sanskrit is reconstructed.

II. Parallel Texts as Recorded
- The Taishō notes under the headings of the five discourses of this fascicle give the numbers of parallel texts (for the first, second, and fourth discourses, one separately translated parallel each together with a number in the Ekottarika Āgama; for the third and fifth, a number in the Ekottarika Āgama only). This edition records those numbers only, in the tenth topic of the Apparatus; the parallel texts are neither read, set in concordance, nor used as witnesses for collation.
III. Old Mirror Carried Forward
- Yogācārabhūmi, Compendium of Topics, Topics of the Sūtras · translated by Xuanzang under the Tang · T30n1579 (fascicle 85, from
0772c09). It names the four Āgamas and, of the Madhyama Āgama, explains only the name; it has no item-by-item gloss of this sūtra. The sūtra has no running old commentary, and that is recorded honestly.
