The Tathāgata-wombThis movement says that the Tathāgata-womb is the cause of birth-and-death and nirvāṇa, pain and pleasure, confounding the foolish mind. Movement 17 separately says that the Tathāgata-womb, "perfumed by beginningless false and harmful habits, is named the consciousness-store," and adds, "were there no consciousness-store named the Tathāgata-womb, there would be no arising-and-perishing." This row therefore records movement 19's own wording and cross-reads it with the store consciousness only under the stated perfuming-and-naming condition, not as an unconditional identity.
