Exposition.疏。
An exposition is not a retranslation, not a Western comparison, and not a replacement for the masters' own words. What is taught here the masters already said; the hall only restates it in today's language, so that it can be entered. The exposition opens the text first, then reads through its declared mirror — divergent ancient readings are recorded, never adjudicated. The mirror is not the sūtra.
