Axis two · methodology of practice

Practice

Recollection, giving, contrition, discipline, stillness, vow — one deepening path of prajñā, ending in bodhi.

About this axis

To walk these gates, one thing must come first: arousing the great bodhi-mind (發大菩提心). Until it is roused, the six gates are only knowledge; once it is, any gate is prajñā. Enter deeply through any one, and each realises the same truth — all dharmas are without self (一切法無我). Walk a single gate, and the six complete one another. This is Practice: the conviction in view that the first axis raised, turned into the unsurpassed path to a Buddha's awakening.
